It’s no surprise that Princess Cruises has named Copenhagen their “Port of the Year” for 2009, a designation that comes from the result of passenger surveys. This designation is for turnaround ports – those where cruises begin and end – as opposed to a port of call.
The terminal at Copenhagen was due for improvements, but there are other great things to consider about departing from Copenhagen:

The approach by air shows much about Denmark’s commitment to alternative energy, evidenced by the many wind turbines in the harbor.
Getting into Copenhagen by train from the airport is quick and simple.
Copenhagen is very walkable, but also has an an excellent public transportation system and free bikes scattered throughout the city.

Access to the port is possible by public transportation (be sure to know which port you are going to) and is close to the city center.
